Can't Remove Network Location from File Explorer

I have an application that when installed, also created a network location in File Explorer. It was mapped to an S:\ drive and named Workplace. That application has been uninstalled, however, the network location is left behind. I can't delete it. I figure it needs to be removed from the registry, I just don't know where to look.

Thanks for any help,

Bob

Hi there,

My name is Ryan and I am an independent advisor here.

I would suggest trying to remove it via RegEdit -

- Launch the Registry Editor (Regedit.exe
- Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Map Network Drive MRU.
- Search for the string value associated with the S drive
- Double click MRUList and delete the value, then click OK

That should do the trick, let me know if you have any issues!

Thanks for the reply, Ryan. I checked and I don't have "Map Network Drive MRU"

Apologies, I believe the correct path is

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MountPoints2\

Apologies, I believe the correct path is

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MountPoints2\

That didn't work either, but I did find the correct location and resolved the issue. It was located in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\. I searched for the name Workplace and once found I deleted the entire key since the application was removed. Changing the System.IsPinnedToNameSpaceTree value from 1 to 0 would hide it from File Explorer.

Thank you,

Bob
