Can't remove English UK keyboard after windows update

I updated my Windows 10 with the latest update only July 29, 2019 and found the English(UK) keyboard was added to my language.  I cannot remove it because it does not appear in the preferred language setting.

How can I remove it?  Please help.

Let us check the Registry to find the root cause.

Right click Start and click Run.
Type in regedit and press enter.
Then go to
Go to HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Keyboard Layout\Preload
Take a snip of the whole window and paste in the next reply.

It appears that you have a Thai keyboard together with English and you want to delete EN-US.

Right click the DWORD value with value 409, select delete. Restart the computer.

If it asks for ownership, follow this guide:

Dear Sumit,

I want to delete the EN UK keyboard, not EN US.

The EN UK keyboard appears in my keyboard list automatically after I have updated the new windows version last week.  I want to delete it out of the list but not cannot.

Please help.

Hi,

We can follow some alternative approach to this. Please add EN-UK as new language, set it as default together with keyboard layouts. Then removing the language again would probably remove associated keyboards as well.

If you DO NOT see it in languages in keybiard setting BUUUUUT you see it in the "Taskbar" down only, here what you need to do: 1- go to Language Setting in Win 10 2- Under preferred languages click Add preferred languages (to add keyboard) 3- Search for English (United Kingdom) to add the keyboard, then add it. 4- Then you will see the English (UK) appear in the list in the setting 5- Open Windows Powershell as Admin and enter the following commands one by one (just copy past each command easier and click enter after each)

Get-WinUserLanguageList

then click ENTER

$LangList = Get-WinUserLanguageList then click ENTER

$MarkedLang = $LangList | where LanguageTag -eq en-GB then click ENTER

$LangList.Remove($MarkedLang)

then click ENTER

type : Set-WinUserLanguageList $LangList –Force

then click ENTER

NOW the UK language will disappear from both setting and taskbar (sometimes you need to click back in setting and enter again language section to see it disappear from list).
