Can't open .xps files

I have a  new computer w/Windows 10 version 1903.  My .xps files won't open.  I  followed the instructions from Ten Forums (https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/109719-add-remove-xps-viewer-app-windows-10-a.html) on installing the XPS Viewer.  But I've tried this several times & my computer says "No features to install".  So how can I access my MANY .xps files?  Thanks.

Make sure that your XPS viewer is not corrupted.

None of the 5 methods worked.  It basically says xpsrchvw can't be found.

XPS Document Writer v4 is an option if I go into Print from a Word document.  But I need to access the .xps files that were transferred over from my old Windows 7 computer.  They opened & printed just fine before.

Hi,

Are you saying that you cannot install the XPS Viewer or the XPS Viewer is installed but you still cannot open an .xps file?

I just found a solution on another site that worked for me.  I opened Command Prompt as Administrator & put in: 

dism /Online /Add-Capability /CapabilityName:XPS.Viewer~~~~0.0.1.0

You can find information about XPS and OXPS here : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_XML_Paper_Specification as Microsoft moves in one direction then another … seems you need a viewer as W10 goes in a completely different direction now.
