Can't install games on the xbox app.

Everytime I start a download from the xbox app, a message from Microsoft Store appears, that it's downloading "Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 UWP Desktop Runtime Package".

And then my game won't download, sitting at 0 B/S.

Problem is only present in the xbox app, internet works fine and no problems with steam or Origin.

Anyone know of any solutions? I have tried to reinstall the app, reset it, restart PC, wsreset.exe and all kinds of stuff.

Hi Hector. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.

There's a similar case that was solved here from the marked Answers:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

If those fixes don't work then report back results so I know what else to suggest.

Hector -

I'll give you everything possible that works to fix the Store, based on helping to fix it daily for years here. Even if you've tried a step, please do it over in this sequence, as one or more steps will always work, and hopefully you won't need to do more than a few:

1) Try updating Store apps: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-bil...

Check also the Windows 10 Version number at Settings > System > About. If less than 21H2 skip to Step 11 to upgrade to the latest by the most stable method.

2) Right click on the time and date in the far right corner of the taskbar. Choose Adjust Date and time settings, at the top make sure the time is correct. If it’s wrong, manually adjust it and make sure the sliders for Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically are set to on.

3) Re-register the Store app from Option 2 here: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3175-apps-re...

4) Type Services in Search box, run Services app as Administrator, open Windows Update Service and Background Intelligent Transfer Service and Stop both.

Press “Windows (flag) key + R,” copy and paste C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\ press the Enter button.
This folder has all the files related to Windows updates.
Open the “Download” folder, select and delete all the files.

Restart Windows Update and Background Intelligent Transfer services in Services app by opening both and choosing Start.

5) Try running the Windows Store apps Troubleshooter in Windows Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > All Troubleshooters.

6) Type CMD in Search box, Run CMD as administrator, type WSReset.exe and hit Enter. Or in the Search type wsreset.exe select Run as administrator.

7) If that fails to fix the problem go to Windows Settings > Apps > Apps & Features to highlight Microsoft Store, choose Advanced Options, then Reset. After it resets, restart PC.

8) If that fails then try everything here:

https://www.winhelponline.com/blog/restore-wind...

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

If that doesn't fix it then try the Marked Answer here:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

And if that fails run the Add Store command here for LTSC which works for all versions:
https://github.com/kkkgo/LTSC-Add-MicrosoftStore

or skip to Step 11 below to reinstall WIndows including the Store while keeping your apps, files and most settings in place..

9) Clear the LocalCache Folder: Open Run by pressing the Windows key + R hotkey.
Copy and paste %localappdata% in Run and click OK.
Open Packages> Microsoft.WindowsStore_8wekyb3d8bbwe > LocalCache folder.
Press the Ctrl + A hotkey to select all content within the LocalCache folder.
Press the Delete button.

10) Type services.msc in Search box, choose Run as Administrator, from Services tab ensure that Microsoft Store Install Service is started and set to Manual, if not restart PC.

Alternative methods to work through the above steps here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WR1fux9Q9O4

11) Next do everything in Step 10 of this checklist:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

12) Try these fixes for Store missing:

https://wethegeek.com/microsoft-store-missing-i...

https://thegeekpage.com/fix-windows-store-missi...

https://www.thewindowsclub.com/windows-store-ap...
(Avoid ad links which intrude into editorial copy, especially avoid Restoro, PC Repair Tool and Reimage ads)

https://www.kapilarya.com/fix-microsoft-store-m...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGb9TtN5ShI

13) If nothing else works then do a Repair Install, which reinstalls Windows while saving your files and apps in place, brings it up to the latest version by the most stable method, takes about an hour and resolves most problems: https://www.tomshardware.com/how-to/fix-windows...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

Did you complete all steps for fixing the Store in my last post, including if necessary the Repair Install?

Are these game installs all through the Store or are some via Xbox app?

You can try repairing Xbox app:

See if you can sign in with Xbox Companion App:
https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/games-apps/...

First try these latest fixes for Xbox app:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/fix...

https://www.pcerror-fix.com/how-to-fix-xbox-app...

https://www.technewstoday.com/xbox-apps-not-wor...

https://thedroidguy.com/xbox-app-wont-open-1156643

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYBVzbZLyAs

1) Try resetting Xbox at Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > Xbox Live > Advanced Options > Repair and Reset. Restart PC, test again.

2) If that fails try re-registering all Xbox apps from Option Two here: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3175-apps-re...
Re-registering is different and will often fix what a Reset or Reinstall will not.

3) If that fails try uninstalling Xbox apps from Settings location above, restart PC, then reinstall from MS Store app Settings > My Library.

4) If those don't help then go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account. Then continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

5) If nothing else works then do a Repair Install, by installing Media Creation Tool, open tool and choose to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows while keeping files, programs and most settings in place, is the most stable method to advance to the latest version, and solves most problems. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m...

6) If you prefer to do a Clean Install follow the gold standard Clean Install in this link which compiles the best possible Install of Windows which will stay that way as long as you stick with the tools and methods given, has zero reported problems, and is better than any amount of money could buy: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

I hope this helps. Based on what you report back I can answer any questions and may have other steps to perform.

This, and every previous suggested solution do not work.

At some point you people need to entertain the idea that Microsoft might be at fault. As a hobbyist/tech enthusiast with good Google-fu, this issue is not only unsolved, but very, very, very, very obviously Microsoft's fault.

When people tell you they tried everything, don't **** them and copy paste another solution. Sometimes you have to admit that the "smart guys" at Microsoft **** up.

At this point there should be a class action suit or a mass-refund program. This is completely and totally unacceptable. No other business in the entire **** world could get away with this level of incompetence.
