Can't install Frontpage 1998 2000 2003 on Windows 7

I'm loading my programs on my new Win 7 laptop.

I get error #5 when trying to install Frontpage 1998 after selecting install from the setup menu.  I tried copying the cd files to the harddrive, received the same error #5.

I have install '98 before installing upgrades to 2000 and 2003.

Suggestions greatly appreciated / Eric

Answer

Hi EricDany,

Welcome to Microsoft Answers!

Error 5 generally means access Denied. Access the CD through windows explorer and right click on the setup.exe file and click on run as administrator.

Also try to install the program in compatibility mode and check if it works.

Follow these steps:

1. Right-click on the installation file and select properties.

2. Now click on the compatibility tab.

3. Under compatibility mode, check “Run this program in compatibility mode for”.

4. From the drop down menu, select Windows XP(service pack 2).

5. Click Apply and then click OK.
