ALL new folders, be they on the C drive, E drive, or mapped to the NAS device.

Computers were easier when I could control everything without registry hacks, buried commands, etc.

Do you have some third-party antivirus? If yes, try to uninstall it.

I cleared the Read Only attribute and had it inherited by all sub-folders and folders. Changed permission to Full Control.

Checking folder properties shows it automatically defaults to Read Only even after I clear the attribute.

Well, so far it seems no one else has this problem. It's obviously some design flaw with mictosoft windows as it didn't occur until after two or three updates back.

Well, it's NOT Norton, NOT my NAS. It's WINDOWS as my laptop which is connected to nothing has the same problem.

When I tried to change the attributes from Read-Only to Read/Write, windows will reset them to read only. Admin / USer / Owner have Full Access. Giving Everyone the same has no effect.

When I tried to change the attributes from Read-Only to Read/Write, windows will reset them to read only.

This is by design for the folders. Note, this does not affect file access or system and apps operation.
