Cannot play Microsoft Mahjong (signing in)

I'm using Windows 10 Pro and trying to play Microsoft Mahjong.  Everything was working fine up till recently whereby when I launch the game a tile just spins in place and keeps saying "signing in".  What exactly is the game trying to sign into?  Whatever it is, it never does sign in.

I've tried fixing the app using some application fix it tool (not sure what the actual name is) but that didn't change anything.  I asked Microsoft Mahjong support on Facebook, no response.  Posted the problem on the page, no response from that either.

Is the game in any way connected to whatever X-Box software came preinstalled with W 10?  If so I removed it as I don't have an X-Box and thought the software was unnecessary to have.  Though as I said above all was working fine up till a few days ago.

Hope someone out there can help.

Re-register the Store App

Open Start screen and press Windows + R keys on the keyboard.

Run the following in a Command Window (CMD) to re-register the Store App:
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.XML

If the above does not work, execute these commands:
1) launch powershell
2) Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted
3) Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

Hope this helps. Keep us posted on the status for further assistance.

Hi PhillipCaprio,

Unfortunately the solutions you presented me with didn't work.  However I managed to find the solution on my own.  Turns out I did need to keep Xbox, even though I don't use it, that came preloaded on Windows 10.  Via another post I found a link to download Xbox Identity Provider.  All good now.

Thank you for your help nonetheless.  Very much appreciated.
