Cannot open the lockscreen

Whenever I open the Chromebook 11 3180, the lockscreen can’t be opened even though I clicked the sign-in button a lot of times; it keeps on staying still in the lockscreen back and forth. Also, I signed out of or removed my Microsoft account that I used in the Chromebook using my phone, hoping that it would open the lockscreen, but it doesn’t. Is there a way on how can I open this? Thank you.

Hello,some1fromEarth

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.

Understanding that you are unable to open the lock screen interface to the extent that you are unable to log in, please enter safe mode first. You can tell me which version of Windows you are using so that I can advise you more specifically, currently you can visit this link: Start your PC in safe mode in Windows - Microsoft Support This provides a way to enter safe mode for various system versions.

  • Please test if you can log in on the lock screen in safe mode.

Exemption: "Clean Boot" boots Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps you determine if a background service is interfering with your game or program and isolate the cause of the problem. These "clean boot" steps may seem complicated at first glance. However, to avoid problems, follow them in order and step by step to help you get back on track.

  • You can use this command to check and fix if system files are missing and corrupted, the system searches for the command prompt at the bottom of the search bar, right-click to run it as administrator, type the following, and press Enter on each line as appropriate:

     Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
     Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
     DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /RestoreHealth
     SFC /SCANNOW

Have you performed any changes such as system updates, BIOS updates, or installation of third-party programs before this problem occurred? If so, please let us know and we will provide you with alternative solutions.

Give it a try and feel free to contact me in the forums with any developments.

A Chromebook doesn't run Windows. It runs ChromeOS, which is a Google product.
