Hi DarrellPBM,

I'm Christine, a Windows user like you. I'll do my best to help you.
Looks like you're unable to connect to a Shared Printer. Let me help you with that.

May I know if it's a work or company printer?
May I know when did the issue start? Is there any changes made?
What is the exact error message that you're getting?

Please check and follow the steps from the link below:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/sha...

Please let me know the result. I'll be happy to assist you all the way until it's resolved.

Thank you,

Hi DarrellPBM,

Thanks for the update.

1. Please run the Printer Troublehooter.
Click Start menu and type Troubleshoot, choose Other Troubleshooters and look for the Printer and please run it.

Restart your device and check if the issue still persists.

2. Restart the Printer Spooler service.
Please press Windows key + R and type services.msc then hit enter
Look for the Printer Spooler and right click on it then select Properties
Please restart it or choose Stop and Start.

Kindly check if the issue still persists.
I'll wait for your update.

Christine

These 2 printers in the pictures are both connected with usb and then shared over network. Don't understand how they show on network but can not connect.

Hi , DarrellPBM.

1. On the machine you are sharing, access the printer properties.

2. Go to the security tab and add the group or user: everyone.

3. Apply settings restart computer

4. On the computer you want to connect the printer to, install the OKI driver from the link below, select connect to the network.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL30...

5. For the HP printer, you will download the driver from the HP website and install it before trying to connect the HP printer.

I have the same problem as Darrell on a small scale. I have an HP printer connected via USB to a desktop computer running windows 11 (home). I have a laptop running windows 10 (home). On my small home network, I can transfer files between the two computers and I can "see" the printer from the laptop, but I cannot connect to the printer from the laptop.

The printer works fine from the desktop.

The network and sharing is ok because I can transfer files over it. Printer sharing is setup as well.

I have tried changing registry values for the printer policies on both machines based on articles I've seen on-line, but nothing has fixed this issue.

I'm not very computer technicle, but I think some windows privacy settings are keeping this from working.

Any help would be greatle appreciated. I've been working on this for a couple of months now.

Thanks
