Cannot communicate with Primary DNS Server(192.168.0.1)

For about a week and a half now my brother has not been able to access the internet.  When we 'diagnose' the network connection it says the above message.

Various searches for that phrase bring up a lot of people with wireless issues on a laptop but this is a desktop with a 100 mb Ethernet connection, which has been  working fine for the past 4 years.

He is running Vista x64.

We managed to fix it briefly by uninstalling the drivers for the network card and rebooting, but now even that isn't working.

Ipconfig /all shows he still has the same IP address he's always had and the NIC has the same DNS server address that my fully-accessible machine has, 192.168.0.1.

I have also tried the /flushdns, /release & renew functions to no avail.

I have also tried fully replacing the drivers with a fresh download from the Marvell site and still no joy.

Here is a copy of his ipconfig:

Answer
I'm going to guess that you have McAfee installed? There was an issue with it recently. Try uninstalling/reinstalling.
