Can not delete a picture from paint

Hi Guys--In using "Paint", I can get the screen shot I want to show up on paint, but it will not delete.. I delete it and it will show up again when I click on paste...  Is this normal ??  Will it go away when I put a new screen shot on paint..??

Also, in the menu box it shows 2 folders that just will not go away no matter what I try...What might I be doing that is wrong?  Thanks for any help....Dave

Hi,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.

I appreciate your time and effort.

I understand unable to delete the picture from paint

I will certainly help you with this.

What 2 folders look like in menu box?

I would like to inform you that, if you click on paste, the picture will reappear until and unless if you copy any other picture. So it will go when you put a new screen shot.

In the menu box you may see the file which recently open.

Thank you so much for getting back to me..The 2 screen shot file pictures are in the right side box, labeled recent pictures...  And they are as follows---

   1 scan 0052

   baggagetrolley

These were used as a try-out  by  me....And when I try to get rid of them, I get a message that they are on my desk top and a screen of my desk top shows up with all my file folders..

I don't want to delete them form there , only from paint..  Is there a way to do this??? Thanks --Dave

If you don't mind , I have one more question on another issue...

My computer is very very slow to start up and shut down..  I get the message that "waiting for back ground

programs" to close...  I opened up  in the search bar this---"Background Programs Running" and this file shows up every time..  To be honest with you , I do not know what it is or what purpose it serves..But I am sure that it could be the problem..It is called-"HPASL"..Can you tell me what this is, and if I need it ???

Can this be deleted safely??  A message also said " A long script is running"..Sure would like to get this fixed too.. Any and all help is greatly appreciated by me..Thanks again--Dave

Hi,

You can delete it from the recent file from my computer:

a. Press Windows key +E.
b. On the left pane you can see the recent document.
c. You can delete those files which you open recently.

For startup,

I would suggest you to perform clean boot:

A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista. You may also troubleshoot or determine what conflict is causing the problem by performing a clean boot.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Refer "How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting" to reset the computer to start as normal after troubleshooting.

Try to search for HPASL in the search box in start button and check what it shows. It may be a third party program or any malware:

Try to run the security scan:

Microsoft safety scanner:
https://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: Any data files that are infected may only be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.

I hope this helps. Please let us know the results. Feel free to write us back for any further assistance with Windows, we’ll be glad to assist you.

Yes this is normal.  The picture is actually held in the clipboard that is not view-able in Windows 7.

Using Paste recopies the item from the clipboard back into Paint.

See this for some ways to clear the clipboard.  I also just select an area on a blank Paint page and select copy to clear it.
