Can no longer access WD MyBookLive through "This PC" on Windows 10.

Since the latest major Windows 10 update, I can no longer access my Western Digital MyBookLive through "This PC".  There are also other problems associated with this issue.

I can create "Network Locations" to the shared folders but there are file size restrictions when using this method.  I can no longer copy back any stored ISO images from the drive and get an error saying the file is too large.

I can no longer mount ISO images from my "MyBookLive" of my software installation disks.

I am very frustrated and am considering going back to the old Creators Edition of Windows 10.

How can I fix these problems?

The errors trying to access the MyBookLive through file explorer  "\\MyBookLive\"  are the same as in this article posted below, but the discussed solutions do not work for me.  I also tried changing the network encryption from 128 bit to lower.

I also found that if I directly address a folder under "This PC" (for example: \\MyBookLive\Public) I am asked for my user name and password even though the folder is a public folder.  (I was only able to do this after the changes I made).  And I still get the error trying to mount ISO files or copy large files.

Western Digital responded to my support request.

They verified the info about the changes to Windows 10.

They suggested that each folder be mapped to a drive letter under the Network Browser (Not under "This PC").

The instructions can be found here:

https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/25436#subject1

So far this has solved the ISO mounting issue.

Also, enabling the Network Browse feature for SMB 1 instructions are here:

Network connectivity is not my wheelhouse, I'm a shell geek, but I had a similar issue with a drive connected to my router. I would map it, it would seem to function, but then weirdness.

Long story short, what fixed it was adding the default router login info as a Windows credential :

Since then, everything's been fine.

I will have to try this... Although Western Digital's solution worked for my desktop, it does not work for my laptop.

I get this every time I try to access the MyBookLive:

When I hit diagnose it says "unknown error"

I found a solution...

MyBookLive Access Problem Solution:

Run the Group Policy Editor
1. Run gpedit.msc
2. Look under the following:
Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Network -> Lanman Workstation
3. Double click "Enable Insecure Guest Logons"
4. Select "Enabled"

5. Click "OK"
6. close all windows
7. No try mounting the Network Drive again.
