Can I run Windows 10 home on my old acer laptop?

Hi! I recently brought my old laptop back to life and was wondering if I could run Windows 10 home on it. It's currently running Windows 8.1, which I never really could adjust to very well. The laptop is an acer aspire e1 series v5we2 with the following hardware specs:

Processor: Intel Core i5-4200U CPU @ 1.60GHz 2.30 GHz

RAM: 6,00 GB (5,88 GB usable)

System type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor

No pen or touch input available for display.

Now, I should point out that the computer is kinda slow and I've also considered actually downgrading to Windows 7 if that would make more sense in my case. I actually don't even care about having an unsupported Windows OS on it since I plan to keep it in my summer house, with very limited (if any) internet access. So which one do you think is best for me, Windows 7 or 10? I'm happy with either one, long as I don't have to use Windows 8 anymore (no offense).

Excited to hear what you think!

M

Hello,

My name is Hanem, an independent advisor, and I'm here to help you.

I'm sorry that you are experiencing this issue, and I will try my best to assist you.

I suggest you install Windows 10 since your computer meet the minimum requirements to run Windows 10. Hence, Windows 7 is no longer supported by Microsoft and may pose security risks.

You may also refer to the link below regarding the system requirements for Windows 10.

I hope the above information help in addressing your concern.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best regards,

Thank you for your answer, Hanem! So, in terms of performance, is Windows 10 still better for my laptop than Windows 7? I'm just worried it might not perform as well.

Best wishes

M

Windows 10 is more resource-intensive than Windows 7. It requires better hardware specifications to run smoothly.

Windows 7 is more suitable for computers with low RAM and processors, as it is a lighter operating system that can run more efficiently on older hardware.

However, your computer has an Intel core I5 processor and 6 GB of RAM, sufficient for running Windows 10 and enough to handle basic tasks on Windows 10.
