I wiped my hard drive and did not install XP, just put 10 on. Now I need XP can the computer won't take it. Is there a way around this or should I just wipe the hard drive again and put XP on first, then 10? Need it for VM.
Thanks

What you can do is install the VM on Windows 10 and run XP from there. If you have Windows 10 Pro, you have Hyper-V, which is Microsoft's VM. There are others available such as the
free VirtualBox
from Oracle.

Thank you for your reply. I have tried this but VM setup states "Setup cannot find a previous version of Windows installed on your computer. To continue, Setup needs to verify that you qualify to use this upgrade product."
Then it tells me to insert a full version of the different Windows products.
Which the XP Home Edition is and I also tried a new, unused Windows PX Professional. But thinking now, I have to try installing the VM with the unused Windows XP Pro.
I think since VM is not seeing XP on my hard drive it won't let me use it.
We'll be back after trying the Pro version.
Thanks

This makes no sense, frankly. What VM software is installed? Describe the process you've used to (a) install the VM software and (b) install the OS in the VM. If you're getting a message about needing a "full" version it means that you're trying to install
an upgrade version.

Alright, my version of XP Home Edition must have a problem. I used the new, unused Windows XP Pro on VM and VM is taking it.

Go buy a cheap SATA or IDE 250GB Hard drive (Which ever one you have) and plug into PC.
If you have a laptop, then get a USB external Hard drive and plug it in.
If BIOS, you will also have to enter the BIOS and set up boot order for CD/DVD boot #1, C:\ 10 OS boot #2 and D:\ or E:\ XP boot #3 (Depending what CD/DVD Drive letter is).
Be sure to select empty drive installing XP, format to quick NTFS and install Windows XP on it. No need to do anything else for install.
then you may have to set up for boot screen to appear and time it appears before booting to default OS, so you can choose what OS to boot up to on restart or start up. If you do this I will help you with that. It also will depend on BIOS or EUFI for setting it up.

Every hardware and program will run on 10 just fine. that is why they have install with compatibility for other OS's.
Not true. While Windows 10 is better with compatibility than older versions, there are still programs that either won't install at all or will install but won't run, regardless of compatibility mode. This is especially true of hardware drivers. There is no danger in running XP so long as it's not connected to the web.
