Can I cast Firefox to a device?

# 1 Your computer and the TV must be on the same WiFi network

# 2 You may need to activate Bluetooth on both devices, and then link them

Go to Settings > System

Scroll down to the bottom and click Connect to a wireless display

Typically, the computer needs to be linked to the other device then the cast to device features will usually work.

Cell phone or tablet should be able to easily do this too, if your computer is located in another room.

A bit, guidance one and two above may still need to be met.

The "Cast to device" works if I right-click on a video file, but I was wondering if there was a way to cast something from a web browser to a device. I can't find any other way to send video to the TV other than video files.

The computer did come with wifi, but I have it turned off as the wired Ethernet is faster and more secure than the wireless. The right clicking on a video file still works.

What I don't know is how to route anything other than a video file to the TV, I was asking if it was even possible to output from a browser window and how to set it up. Setting it up as a third monitor would work.

P.S. If I have to resort to a direct wired connection, do you think it would work if I grabbed my old XP laptop instead or would the browsers be too outdated for modern streaming? I have two generations of desktops newer than my newest laptop, but I haven't needed a laptop that wasn't provided by the company I work for since 2011, so I bought desktops instead.

The laptop seems like a 486 under Vista, putting XP on it is so much faster it isn't even funny. I never tried Win7, it's not like it was a free upgrade, and I took the downgrade option to XP.

I don't understand why since I use a combination device of router/switch/firewall/wifi hotspot, but I had to enable the wifi card to get the display sharing to work, yet "cast to device" worked over wired.

I had disabled wifi in device manager because I never use it. Due to how my home network is set up, if the wifi is down so is the wired.

Also why does Win10 make it so you can't "run as administrator" for Device Manager from the Start menu search? I had to find a solution with a Bing search which told me to find the file in C:\Windows\system32 and right click from Explorer.

I don't normally log in as the admin, I long in as a limited standard user.

One final question.

The TV is in another room, and is much larger and has a much higher resolution than any of my monitors. Is there any way to do a mirror to either the primary or secondary monitor without making the TV a low resolution?

Such as having it scaled at 150% while the lower-resolution monitor it is mirrored on is 100%?

I suppose I can just start the stream, then move it to the Tv and hit <Windows key>-<Up arrow> to maximize it when I can't see anything.

Or should I mirror it at low res, get the display going, then disable mirroring so it goes back to maximum resolution?
