Calendar and Clock Has Disappeared From Task Bar

I tried going in to customize the icons in the task bar icon box, but there was no date/time in the list.  I went to the actual Date/Time setting, but there was nowhere I could see that explained how to place the clock on the task bar or the desk top.  There is a calendar in Gadgets, but no clock, and when I went online to Microsoft, I saw the warning saying NOT to use the Gadget function.

What next?

Thank you

Answer

Hi Pam,

You have mentioned that you are unable to find the date/time in the list on the Customize Notification Icons window. Before we proceed further with this issue, I would like to clarify a small thing here - Under the Customize Notification Icons window, did you click on the link "Turn system icons on or off" and check if the option "Clock" is available in the list of system icons?

If not, I would suggest you to do that and let us know the status. Please follow these steps:

a) Right click on the notification area on the taskbar and select the option "Customize Notification Icons".

b) Now, at bottom of the new window which opens up, click on the link "Turn system icons on or off".

c) You should be able to find the option "Clock" in the list of system icons.

d) If you have the option "Clock" listed there, then select the option "ON" from that drop down menu.

e) Click on "OK" and again "OK".

f) This should display the date and time again on the taskbar.

Hope this resolves the issue. If this does not fix the issue, then please get back to us. We'll be glad to assist you further.

Regards,
Rajesh Govind - Microsoft Support Engineer
