Recently, I've burned audio cd's in WMP and they play in the computer, in my two dvd players connected to tvs and my car player but will NOT play in my two stereo cd players. Actually, a few do but they take a long time to "load". The others either never load or give a message "no disc". If I try a cd burned months ago, they play like they always did with no problem or delay in "loading". Clearly, the music is ON the burned cd but something is causing those 2 players to not be able to read it or load it. I've tried different cd mfg. although that was never a problem before. It makes little difference. The worst was a batch of Memorex color cd's. All gave a "no disc" message. On a few of the Magnavox blanks (which ALWAYS worked just fine), they WILL eventually "load" but it takes a long time. Most won't. Again, I've tried previously burned cd's in the 2 cd players and they work just fine. Anything I NOW burn, is a problem but ONLY on the 2 cd stereo players and only with cd's burned in the last month or so. I've run the free program offered by Microsoft to correct WM errors, etc. but nothing changed. I did a few at different speeds with no success. Essentially, I've been ripping/burning using Windows Audio at a few different speeds with no discernable change in the results. The latest I got from an internet expert was that the computer burner was bad. It is relatively new and has worked just fine until very recently.
Q: Could it have something to do with the cd being closed properly? Would the cd play in my car, in my computer and in my dvd players if it wasn't closed properly? During the burning process, it DOES say it's closing.
Q: Do codec's have anything to do with cd playback? Could they have changed during a windows update making the cd players obsolete readers?
