BSOD on shutdown and restarts

I keep getting BSOD when my computer restarts or shutdowns. It will say "DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE" on the BSOD. I have double checked system files to make sure none are corrupted and also tested my memory on the memory diagnostic tool and it passed without any issues.

here are the dump files if that helps

Also involved :
fffff802`4cbc0000 fffff802`4cbc8000 NTIOLib_X64.sys MSI Afterburner

You are running MSI Afterburner which makes changes that are in effect even when not running.

Best to fully uninstall MSI Afterburner and ALL similar over-clocking software. Then reset the BIOS back to MSI recommended defaults.

Over-clocking can not only cause these issues it can make troubleshooting virtually impossible.

I have updated the bios and the chipset drivers.

for MSI afterburner when i looked in my programs I don't have that application installed. Even when I search for it in my PC its not there.

I did recently install an AiO cooler on this motherboard. Could it because I plugged the fan into the CPU_FAN header rather than the PUMP_FAN header?

Thanks for responding to this Rob

Then it is a different MSI Application such as the MSI Updater. It is definitely installed and affecting your system.

fffff802`4cb60000 fffff802`4cb68000 NTIOLib_X64..sys MSI Afterburner driver (known BSOD issues with Windows) Also found to be a part of MSI Live Update 5, MSI Super Charger & MSI Smart Utilities.

Not sure about that as there may be a control issue so you should contact the cooler maker and MSI's Support. I have heard of others doing same. Also check on MSI Forums and OC Forums such as OverClocker.net.

What power supply are you using? You may need to remove ALL from the A/C circuit the computer is on as a test. That means everything on the entire circuit and not just that one wall plug. Lower power caused by circuit overload and/or brown-out conditions in the power supplied to the home can aggravate or cause this issue.

Hi Rob,

After more research I found out the game Valorant which i recently installed, the anti cheat software it uses messes with MSI programs. I have uninstalled Valorant and now my PC is back to the way it was before. So far it seems like it is working fine.

Excellent troubleshooting!

What anti-cheat software does it use? That feedback will help me stay alert to it in the future.

Glad to have helped.

Riot Vanguard.... does compete with other anti-cheat software that other games have loaded and can cause BSOD.

Thanks for the good feedback!
