BSOD after installing a new GPU and PSU

I installed a new GPU (RX 7900 XTX) and a new PSU (Corsair 1000W), then uninstalled the old drivers from my previous GPU, an RX 6700 XT. After the installation, there was no image on my screen at first. It took several attempts before it finally booted to the BIOS, which oddly reported a new CPU detected, even though I hadn't installed one. I saved and restarted, then managed to install the latest drivers. Testing a game went smoothly until I restarted the PC, which led to my first BSOD. I didn't pay much attention to it and went to bed. The next day, I could play some games without issues until I encountered another BSOD when not gaming.

I ran a memory test on Windows and it found no errors with the memory. However, I'm still concerned about a potential issue with my PC.

I will provide details of my system and the "dump files" next:

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6-Core Processor

Installed RAM 32GB DDR4-3200 RAM

System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Windows 11 Pro

Motherboard ASUS Prime B550M-A/AC

GPU: RX 7900 XTX

PSU: Corsair 1000W

The BSOD error was:

Stop Code: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

What Failed: wfplwfs.sys

Hi Alejandro, thanks for reaching out. My name is Bernard a Windows fan like you. I'll be happy to help you out today, my timezone is UTC +8.

I understand the issue you have, there is nothing to worry I am here to help, as per checking and analyzing the DMP files, there is an error IP_MISALIGNED_wfplwfs.sys, which is pointing to MODULE_NAME: hardware or there is a hardware-related issue, the wfplwfs.sys which is a Windows Driver framework which allows communication between hardware and connected devices, after changing PSU and GPU have you tried to reinstall Windows? as there is an incompatibility happening to the PC, if not, let us run the following steps:

We need to run a Clean installation of the AMD driver, this is different from doing DDU or updating the driver as this will remove all entries and replace them with compatible ones, kindly follow the steps from the link below:

Step 1. Completely uninstall the AMD GPU Driver using the steps from this link:
https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articl...

Step 2. Reinstall the AMD Graphics driver using the steps from the link below:
Install AMD Radeon and automatically detect the AMD driver:

Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install it.

If none will work from the above solution, I suggest doing an in-place upgrade wherein it will upgrade the device to the latest version and repair all issues without deleting any files.

Kindly follow the steps from this link:

Note: If the issue persists, reinstallation of Windows will be the next step, in addition, if all fails, I suggest contacting a local technician to physically check the device for any hardware-related issues as the error is pointing out a hardware problem.

Let me know how it goes and I hope that helps.

Bernard
