Bose Companion 2 Series II speakers stopped working - Windows 10

My external speakers have just [Jan 2022] stopped working has there been a windows update that has made them incompatible?

Has there been an update to the Realtek driver that makes my Bose incompatible?

My PC is an ASUS all in one and the internal speakers work.

I have checked the transformer and the speakers are getting power.

Good Day PeterC4rr,

My name is Carlo, I am also using Windows 10 pc and community member like you. Let us work together to sort this out.

First, you need to check the speaker using a different computer for us to check if the issue is with your computer or the external speaker itself.

if it does the same using a different device or computer means that the external speaker is faulty.

if the external speakers works using a different computer proceed with steps below.

Here's the steps you can try.

-Press Windows key + X
-Go to Settings
-Click Update and Security
-Click Troubleshooter then Additional troubleshooter.
-Look for Playing Audio and run the troubleshooter.

-Press Windows key + X
-Go to Device Manager
-Expand the Sound and Video Game Controllers
-Look for Audio driver that was installed
-Right click and Update
-Look for "Browse my computer for driver
-Let me pick drivers available drivers
-Choose an old driver and use it.

Connect the external speakers and proceed with these steps.

-Go to Control Panel
-In Control Panel, select Large icons from the View by drop down menu.
-Select Sound.
-Select the Playback tab
-Right click the External Speakers and click Enable.
-Right-click it again and select Set as Default Device.
-Right click External Speakers and click Properties.
-Click the Levels tab, then drag the volume slider towards the largest value.
-Click on Advance Tab
-Uncheck the box to "Allow Application to take exclusive controls on this device"
-Click OK.

Restart your computer and test the External speakers audio, check all the ports ,, check if its connected properly.

If issue persist, let's download the updated driver
What is the exact model of your computer?

To check the system model proceed with these steps.
-Press Windows key + R
-Type msinfo32 and hit enter.
-Look for the System Model and manufacturer and post it here.

I hope the information above helps. Please let me know how it goes.
Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

Sincerely,
Carlo T.

Hello Carlo SUCCESS thank you.

The speakers did work with my laptop so I followed tour instruction although I didn't find an older driver I did discover a Windows 10 update.

I accepted that and after a restart the speaker were back working.

I did see the Window 11 update but my computer does not have minimum system requirements.

Still you pointed me in the right direction to a satisfactory resolution.

Many thanks again.
