Bluetooth device doesn't connect automatically

I have Windows 7 (64 Bit) and I use a bluetooth speaker (Creative D100) with my Laptop. I paired the device and when the laptop boots it shows it is connected to the speaker. I checked the device status in Devices and Printers and it shows as connected. The speaker indicates that it is connected (LED turns blue).

But actually it is not connected... When I play some audio it is played on the laptop speaker. What I do is - disconnect the device and connect it again. Then it works fine...

What is wrong?

Hi Supratim,

Thank you for posting your question in Microsoft Community.

From the issue descriptions, it seems that you are unable to connect Bluetooth speaker Creative D100 with your laptop automatically.

I can imagine the inconvenience you have experienced. I will help you in fixing the issue.

To help you to resolve the issue, I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions:

1. Is the issue specific to particular or all the Bluetooth devices?

2. Have you made any recent hardware or software changes to your computer prior to the issue?

3. What is the make and model of the computer?

We need to perform hardware and device troubleshooter to fix if there is any hardware conflict issue and to fix dropping connections in the Bluetooth device by following the below methods and check the issue.

Method 1:

If your computer is having problems with a recently installed device or other hardware, try using the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter to fix the problem. It checks for common issues and makes sure that any new device or hardware attached to your computer was installed correctly.

Open the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter:

Hi Mahesh,

Thank you for your reply.

1. I don't have any other bluetooth device... so I don'y know it the issue is specific to this particular device or not. Although when I connect my Android phone to the speaker, it works fine. The Laptop gets connected with the phone without any issue.

2. I didn't make any hardware or software changes recently. In fact I restored my laptop to the factory default settings a couple of weeks ago. Also I updated my laptop using Microsoft Update and everything is up to date.

3. I  have a Sony VAIO Laptop (Model VPCEA16FG) with Windows Home Premium 64 bit.

When I try to apply the hotfix suggested by you, it says: the update is not applicable to my system.

Hi Supratim,

Thank you for your reply.

I would suggest you to uninstall the Bluetooth Driver and install the latest drivers from the manufacturer’s website and check.

I would suggest you to initially uninstall and reinstall the Bluetooth software you are using with any Bluetooth device and check. You may even check if there are are any updates at the manufacturer website related to the software.

If the issue persists, you may use the device manager to uninstall and reinstall the Bluetooth device drivers and check or update the Bluetooth drivers from the manufacturer website.

Follow the steps to checking the Bluetooth drivers in device manager:

a. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
b. Click System and Maintenance, click System, and then click Device Manager.
Note If Control Panel is in Classic View, double-click System, and then click Device Manager.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
c. Locate the Bluetooth device by expanding the categories. Now you may right-click the listed drivers. Here you will get all the option to update or Install/uninstall drivers. Click on Uninstall.
Check if at all there is an exclamation mark along the driver, it suggests issues with the driver installed.
d. Restart the computer. This will let the computer automatically detect the device drivers on restart of the computer.

If the issue still persists, you may check for an updated driver from the manufacturer and install the latest version.

Hi,

I will try to update the driver... and check Sony website...

I am getting a feeling that the device is getting connected before the Bluetooth Service fully starts at the time of booting process... When I put the laptop in sleep mode it gets disconnected and again gets connected properly when the laptop wakes up.
