BlueScreen Error 116 and LiveKennelEvent error 141?

I keep having these weird crashes where my computer freezes. The easiest way to explain the freeze is that it's like being stuck on a screenshot. My screen freezes on one frame and my mouse and keyboard dont do anything. Sometimes the sound also carries on playing. These crashes only seem to happen when im watching media like YouTube, Twitch, Amazon Prime, Sky Sports etc. That's when it is most common. On the very small occasion it may happen when my computer is idle and I'm away from the computer. But one thing I find very odd is that it NEVER crashes when im playing games.

I learnt a trick that I can look at the Reliability History on windows and the two errors that stand out are in this dropbox link. I've also put a minidump as I've seen others do this.

Link:

I've checked my graphics drivers time and time again but they are up to date. Before they were a bit older when i first had the issue but after catching up on the updates, the issue still occurs.

I also reset my PC yesterday and i thought it was doing better but had the same crash again.

Crashes sometimes happen a lot or not at all but mainly when watching a video

Let me know any questions if I've missed any info

Thanks

Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

The minidump indicates the driver "nvlddmkm.sys" as the cause of the crash. No other drivers are mentioned. The driver "nvlddmkm.sys" belongs to your Nvidia graphics card.

Download the latest driver for your graphics card from the Nvidia website. Then, use the free DDU tool to remove the current driver. Then, install the latest driver using the installer you downloaded.

DDU: https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-dr...

Nvidia driver download: https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx
Run the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver.

See if the system will work stable after this.

If you need a tutorial for using DDU, I recommend the video below.

If the BSOD occurs again after doing this, send the minidump created by it. Click on the "Reply" button below my reply.

Feel free to ask back any questions.

Hi! I also had this problem.

First, I strongly recommand using David-M.'s turorial (see it above me). If it dosen't work, reinstall windows and reset BIOS config. If the crashes still occur, check if you have problems like surges or tension fluctuations on your power line.

I had the same problem a few months ago and I solved it by reinstalling Windows, but now it's happening again. I do not know what to do. I've already reinstalled my nvidia drivers a billion times, but it's useless.

Hi David,

It has just happened again while watching YouTube.

I've added the minidump to that dropbox folder from yesterday.

The day before yesterday I also completely reset my computer so I feel like reinstalling windows wouldn't change anything.

Cheers

The latest minidump also mentions the Nvidia driver.

I suggest installing an old version of the Nvidia driver. Try one from at least 3 months ago.
Search and download an older driver from the link below.
https://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx

– Under "Windows Driver Type", leave "DCH" selected.
– Under "Recommended/Beta", leave "Recommended/Certified" selected.

You will need to use DDU again to remove the current driver. I suggest disconnecting from the internet during the entire procedure.

See if the system will work stable after installing the old driver.
If you have GeForce Experience installed, temporarily disable the automatic driver updates in the application settings.

If the BSOD occurs again, send the minidump created by it. Click on the "Reply" button below my reply.

Hi again David,

I believe it happened again...

I was away from my PC this time but I come back and logged in and all my apps opened as usual like I've just started it up. So guessing it crashed again.

I've added to my minidump again

Thanks
