Backup fails: error 0x80042318 when trying to make/do a restore point in windows 7

When i try to make a restore point OR do a restore point i get

"An error was detected in the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).  The problem occurred while trying to contact VSS writers. Please verify that the Event System service and the VSS service are running and check for association errors in the event logs. (0x80042318)."

I searched the internet for answers and none of them worked.

i went to windows task manager and saw that both of them are running. i went to services.msc to see if they were on the list and they were not, both of them. And when i opened services.msc i got a script error.

Line: 5
Symbols: 5
error: DLL-file is not registered
Kode: 0
URL: res://C:\Windows\system32\mmcndmgr.dll/views.js

i dont know if it is related or if it is a whole new problem.

I also tried using the sfc /scannow option and with no luck what so ever.

I hope somebody can help me with this problem.

Hi,

I would suggest you to perform system restore from system recovery option and check.
