Asus USB Type-C Monitor, no signal Windows 10

I am trying to use the Asus USB Type-C Monitor MB169C+ together with my (for the purpose newly bought) Asus laptop F540LA-DM756T (Win10 64bit, USB 3.1 Type-C), but I can´t get it to work.

When I connect the monitor the Asus logotype appears. Then a message shows "DisplayPort No signal" and the monitor shuts down again. On the computer I get a message saying something like that the USB unit is not recognized by Windows and when I look in System I see that the USB unit, called Billboard-unit, has error code 10.

Power saving is not activated and I have tried to inactivate, uninstall, restart, reconnect, etc, etc but nothing works, so now I would gladly receive any helpful information in this matter.

Hi Urban,

Thanks for posting your issue. We're happy to help.

Kindly perform the following steps to properly isolate this issue:

1. See if the monitor model is compatible with your laptop by checking the manufacturer's web site.
2. Connect the monitor to other USB ports.
3. Test if other USB devices will work on other USB ports of the laptop.
4. Check for an updated monitor software or driver from the manufacturer's web site.
5. Contact the device manufacturer for further assistance.

I hope this information helps.

Asus USB Type-C Monitor, no signal Windows 10

I have an HP pc on Windows 10 and the ASUS MB169C+ does not display at all.  I have been trying to research what drivers I need and have been unsuccessful for 5 hours.  I had a case created and have to call back ASUS support in 8 hours (when they open).  This is a new portable monitor just purchased today and i need it ASAP.  I am trying not to return the product and need help

Hi Anita,

In order for us to better assist you with your concern, we just have a question for you:

  1. Were you able to try using a different VGA or HDMI wire to connect your monitor? Damaged wires can also cause a no signal error.

Let's this article to update and install drivers in Windows 10.

Do update us with the results.

Regards.

Hi,

Spent 2 hours on the phone with ASUS.  They confirmed that my HP USB port needed to be USB 3.1 therefore the portable monitor was a waste of a purchase.  I ended up scouring the entire Fresno area and found a replacement portable monitor that now works.

Issue root cause: USB default drivers installed with HP did not have the compatibility for USB Type-C Monitor; HP had the port...but not the installed drivers.

Lessons Learned.

What you say about checking compatibility is the key!

I assumed that having a USB 3.1 Type-C port on the computer was enough to run the Asus USB Type-C Monitor MB169C+, but that is not the case and the Asus support in Sweden does not seem to have knowledge about this, as they replaced the monitor with another one - still with the same problem.

The USB 3.1 Type-C port must support DP Alternate (Alt) Mode or DisplayPort and you can normally see the DP-logo next to the port if this is the case.

I have successfully tried the monitor on an Apple MacBook and it look great. The monitor is not the problem, but I can´t use it as I was fooled by the "no problem-functionality" with the USB 3.1 Type-C port.
