Apps not showing status on Lock Screen

Today, for the first time, the status from the MSN Weather App is not now showing when I lock the screen. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the App. I have also tried the Windows Store App Troubleshooter, the DISM tool and scannow. The problem occurs if I select Spotlight or Picture for my lock screen. When locking the screen, the Mail and Calendar App do show their status but the Weather App does not show either Detailed Status or Quick Status. All notifications are on. I’m using a Surface Pro 5 and Windows 20H2 with all the latest updates. Any help in resolving this problem would be appreciated.

I installed two further weather apps yesterday (Weather 14 days and Strawberry). They both appear in the list of programs for which to show detailed status on the Lock Screen, but, as with MSN Weather, neither of them show anything when the screen is locked. So, I'm thinking it may have something to do with apps that use location. Also, who is the person who has the same question please - perhaps we can compare notes and help each other (at least understand the problem better, if not resolve it)?

Another interesting development (depending on your boredom threshold) is that I have a much older Sony Vaio, which is also running Windows 20H2. The Detailed Status for the Weather App has been showing on the lock screen on that device. So today, I compared the settings between both devices. But, after opening and just viewing (not touching or changing anything) the location and notification settings on the Vaio, the Detailed Status (for the Weather App) has disappeared from the lock screen on that device and not returned, which is very weird. I not advocating others view their settings, but I would be interested in hearing from anybody who has experienced this issue and also, from Microsoft please, on whether this is a known issue and is being addressed.

did a fresh windows install for this, was working normally until i opened the app, then it stopped from showing the info in the lock screen ,definitely a bug

I'm running Windows 10 20H2 as well. I installed the MSN Weather app today specifically to have it show its info on the lock screen--but it does not, whether I configure for it to "show detailed status on the lock screen", to "show quick status on the lock screen", or both.

Thanks for your post, Sleepingin. Sorry to hear that you cannot see the Weather status, but it is reassuring to know that I am not the only one experiencing this issue. I still don't see the status after all this time. A fix would be nice, please Microsoft.

Having the same issue. Freshly installed 20H2 on my PC. Weather details showed up on the lock screen until I opened the Weather app to change the location. Now weather details does NOT show on the lock screen anymore. Reinstalled the app, no go... Confirmed location is still enabled. Also confirmed the app is still selected in settings...

Thanks EliChart. I still have the issue after 5 months. Hopefully, 21H1 will fix it.

Suddenly weather info showed up on my taskbar without my asking for it there, but still not on the lock screen.
