AOE 2 HD - Start up fail MessageBox(4112-Error): Failed to initialize draw system... ...main.cpp(312)

Hi,

I cannot play Age of Empires 2 HD (btw I did play a month ago). I've read it may be something to do with DirectX, or C++ redistributables for visual studio 2015.Can anyone help?

Here is what comes up in the error log:

I'm Kevin B. Independent advisor and a Windows user like you. I do apologize for the inconvenience about you not able to play your game, let me help you sort things out.

One possible reason why you cant play the game is because of outdated version of your video card, kindly update your Windows as well to get all the missing components of it.

To do that, press Windows key + I to get into settings.

Click update and security.

Click on Windows update.

Wait for the update to download and restart the system to install the missing updates.

After that press Windows key and type: device manager:

Look for display adapter.

Expand the list of display adapter.

Right click on it and click on update.

Choose search automatically for updated driver software.

Restart your computer to apply the changes.


If updating the driver thru device manager didn't work, look for the manufacturers website for the best and updated drivers that they have.
