after 24h2 install can not update drivers via nvidia app met with black screen and dlss upscale is broken is there a fix?

after installing 24h2 i can't update the Nvidia driver via the Nvidia app goes to black screen and does not come back.

Installed drivers manualy ,that works.

Then ingame i can no longer use DLSS upscale from 1080p to 1440p in any game,it will just freeze.

Native 1080p works fine.

i,m using the RTX 3070 TI on AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D and 32 GB ram.

Hi

Welcome to Microsoft community.

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with NVIDIA drivers and DLSS after updating to Windows 11 24H2. Here are some steps you might try to resolve these issues:

  1. Roll Back Drivers:

    • Since manual installation of drivers worked, try rolling back to a previous NVIDIA driver version that was stable for you before the 24H2 update. You can find older drivers on NVIDIA's official driver download page.

  2. Update NVIDIA Drivers to the Latest Hotfix:

    • Check if NVIDIA has released any hotfixes or new drivers specifically addressing issues with Windows 11 24H2. Sometimes, NVIDIA provides hotfixes for such compatibility problems. You might need to manually check their website or forums for announcements.

  3. Disable Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling:

    • Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics settings, and turn off "Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling". This can sometimes resolve black screen issues during driver updates.

  4. NVIDIA Control Panel Settings:

    • Open the NVIDIA Control Panel and ensure that DLSS settings are not forcing any specific upscaling or downscaling. You might want to reset all settings to default or check if there are any game-specific profiles that might interfere with DLSS functionality.

  5. Clean Installation of Drivers:

    • Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove current NVIDIA drivers (in safe mode) before installing new ones. This ensures no residual files from previous installations are causing conflicts.

  6. BIOS/UEFI Update:

    • Ensure your motherboard BIOS/UEFI is up-to-date. Sometimes, updates can improve compatibility with new Windows versions.

    • Disclaimer:  Microsoft provides no assurances and/or warranties, implied or otherwise, and  is not responsible for the information you receive from the third-party  linked sites or any support related to technology.

If you are going to modify BIOS Settings, please  back up all your personal files first to ensure you do not lose data.

If these solutions don't resolve your issues:

Rollback to Windows 11 23H2:

This should give you a stable environment while waiting for Microsoft or NVIDIA to release updates that address these compatibility issues.
