administrator privileges required to play game, I am the administrator

Please share the following details.

1. Is there any other games causing the same issue?

2. Did you see any error message or error code on the screen?

I suggest you to start the computer in Safe mode from the Windows Recovery Environment.

Please refer to the below link to start the computer in Safe mode.

Note: The steps for Windows 8.1 applies to Windows 10 Insider Preview.

Once you have entered into the Safe mode then, open Command Prompt and enable Built in Administrator.

Follow the below steps to enable Built in Administrator:

1. Open Command Prompt from Windows Recovery Environment.
2. Copy and paste the below command and press Enter.

                net user administrator /active:yes

     3. Close the Command Prompt.

     4. Try to login though Built in Administrator and change the earlier password or you can create new user account.

Check if the issue persists or not. If the issue persists, Please download and install the latest graphics drivers from your computer manufacturer website and check if it helps.

I have the exact same problem as the person who posted this thread.

The link you provided for starting windows 10 in safe mode is not good. Hit the windows key and R then go to boot to start computer in safe mode for windows 10.

The recommended solutions did not work and state the same issue as before.

The game is not working because you are running it off a CD.

I found the fix at another site. Make sure you have Civilization IV Beyond the Sword then update it to the latest version of 3.19. That version eliminates the need to have the CD in. I no longer have the administrator login issues.
