"AddInProcess.exe" completely jamming up my system.

From what I can see online, it seems no living human knows how to fix this and it seems that is caused by the fact we can't uninstall .net framework in Windows 10.

I was using a program called FlowFrames which is a video interpolation program, only used it for about 20 minutes before realising that "AddInProcess" in task manager had my GPU pegged at 100% and was drawing 300-400w of power through the GPU. I tried "SFC /scannow", I tried restarting, I tried .net repair tool and update tools and neither found an issue. I deleted FlowFrames, issue didn't go away.

In the end I took ownership of the .net framework folder and quickly ended and deleted "AddInProcess.exe" so it wouldn't keep starting back up, but now where do I go from here? I have since ran the .net repair tool and update tool and they don't see any issue even though the framework folder is now missing multiple files, how can I fix the .net framework folder and replace the missing files in the hopes it fixes whatever my issue was before?

Hi Nick. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, specializing in Installation, Performance, Troubleshooting and Activation, here to help you.

It seems like the deletion might have fixed the problem? Are there any new problems caused by that? If not then you could let it ride for awhile to observe If it has problems then try these additional repairs or uninstall the Net Framework(s) involved and reinstall it:

Happy Holidays!

So after running "sfc /scannow" within command prompt, it replaced the files I deleted from the framework folder, and then the issue instantly came back. After running a scan with malwarebytes it found a few files that it quarantined.

There was one just called tskmgr and then a bitcoin miner. The ONLY piece of software I downloaded since this issue coming up was FlowFrames, but that is supposed to be a legit piece of software, so how could this have happened? Malwarebytes seems to have fixed the issue thankfully, I am now just concerned about how it infected my PC in the first place.

If you'd like we can go through the most thorough disinfection steps to make sure the best on-demand scanners Malwarebytes and AdwCleaner when run twice get everything out, then SFC checks if the infections or their removals damaged System Files, leading up to if necessary a Repair Install to fix anything SFC subsequently finds that cannot be fixed after 3 separate attempts. To do this:

Run another full scan with the most powerful on-demand free scanner Malwarebytes:
https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/ Make sure to only choose the Free version.

But this time in the Malwarebytes Settings (gear icon) > Security tab set it to include scanning for Rootkits.

Clean up anything found, restart PC and then run again until it comes up clean.

Then download, install and run a full scan with AdwCleaner:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcle...
Remove whatever it finds.

Check for anything found but is still left over in Settings > Apps > Apps & Features, and C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(86) to uninstall or delete them. I can guide you how to do this if there are problems.

Also in each of your browser's Extensions, Home Page settings, Search service or Add-On's as shown here: https://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch001411.htm
to disable anything you didn't add yourself and are sure you need. Ask back if in doubt.

Then check for damaged System files by running System File Checker and DISM from Step 10 in this checklist:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

If completing all of Step 10 in above Checklist doesn't fix it then run a Repair Install which reinstalls WIndows while keeping your files, programs and most settings in place, by installing the Media Creation Tool from this link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/software-downlo..., open the tool and choose Upgrade This PC Now. This will solve most problems and also bring it up to the latest version which you need anyway and by the most stable method.

If you want to keep Malwarebytes as an on-demand scanner then you can turn off its Real Time trial version using the slider buttons on it's front panel. I recommend it as the #1 tool for your toolbox. For best WIndows performance, use built-in Defender which gives adequate real-time protection.

Keep in mind that a reputable app may be bundled with PUPS or malware on another download site, which is why it's best to always get it from the author's site. In the future you can right click the installer immediately after download to scan with Malwarebytes, AdwCleaner and your AV.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let me know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
