Activating WINDOWS 10 Education

I recently got a new PC and installed Windows 10 home 64 bit version but without an activation code but my university provided us with the education version and I want to know if I can activate windows 10 education on my windows 10 home PC

Yes, you can if you have the license key. Have you used the key on another computer first?

Does it matter that this article is about Windows 10 Pro or do I have to follow the same steps to activate windows education on Windows 10 Home?Thanks a lot

Thanks for the reply and no I haven't used it yet.So basically all I have to do is type the windows education activation key on my windows settings and I am good to go?

If you haven't used it on any device, yes.
As Windows 10 Home to education upgrade path is supported.

Yeah I have just had a brief look you should be able to swap over the licence key in system settings to the educational version allow that to activate and you should be good to go


To begin, click on the Notification icon in the lower right hand corner of your Taskbar and select All Settings.
Now select Update & Security.
Now select Activation.

Next click Change Product Key. If you receive a prompt asking if you wish to allow the app to make changes to your computer, select Yes.

Enter in the following Key for default Windows 10 Education installations.

If the key is accepted, you should receive a "Upgrade your edition of Windows" screen. Click to Start Upgrade. This may take anywhere from 20-60 minutes to complete as your computer downloads the needed files and performs the in place upgrade.

As this update processes, you may be asked to reboot your computer. Please follow any on-screen prompts during this time.
When it completes, you should receive a "Edition upgrade completed" message. You may now click Close.
