Hi,
Thank you for posting your question in Microsoft Community!
I understand that bootable disk isn’t recognized. I will try to help you with this.
Is the disk bootable one?
This can happen if the Boot priority in the BIOS is not configured to boot from CD/DVD as the first boot device, to fix it you need to change the first boot device in BIOS as the CD/DVD drive.
Try this step to change the boot priority:
To boot to the Boot Priority Window in BIOS follow these steps:
· Insert the installation disc. And Restart.
NOTE: Modifying BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Modifications of the settings are at your own risk.
· Tap F12 when your computer is restarting. When you get to the boot priority Window select the CD/DVD Drive to the first bootable device and keep the Hard Drive as the Second.
(NOTE: Tapping F12 might not work on all computers. It depends on the make of the computer. If you are unable access anything with F12 then, verify the settings on the very first screen. You should see the keys to access BIOS and to change the Boot Priority, use these keys to access BIOS and make changes. If you are unable to access the BIOS or the Boot Priority then get intouch with the computer manufacturer for help.)
For more information, see BIOS: frequently asked questions.
· You will get a message “Press any key to boot from CD”. Press any key then to start the reinstallation.
You may also contact Acer for further assistance.
Please post back if you are still experiencing the issue. I will be glad to provide you with the additional options available that you can utilize to get the issue resolved.
We look forward to hearing back from you.

Hi,
Thank you for the update.
I’m sorry, that it won’t be possible to install Windows XP using USB devices or thumb drive as a bootable, however there are third party software which will help
you to create a USB or thumb drive as a bootable device, you can search in your favorite search engine
for the software.
Notes:
Using Third Party Software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the use of Third Party Software can be solved. Using Third Party Software is at your own risk.
