Access Denied when accessing to an external hard drive disk

Hi,

I can't access to my files of my external HDD after upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10 because I get this error: "Access denied".

The driver is ok and recognized in Windows 10: H:/
I tried connecting the HDD to a Windows 7 PC then I can access to my files like before.
I tried these steps but it didn't work, because I can't edit permissions (although it works on other files and directories):

1. Right-click on the folder and select "Properties"
2. Click on "Edit"
3. Select "Add"
4. In the box type "Everyone" and select "OK"
5. Select the "Everyone" user from the list, check the "Full Control" option below and click on "Apply" and "OK"
6. On the next screen select the "Everyone" user and click on the "Advanced" button
7. Select the "Owner" tab and click on "Edit"
8. Click on "Other users or groups"
9. Type "Everyone" in the box and select "OK"
10. On the next screen click on "Apply" and "OK"

What's wrong?

 Hi Antonio,

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community.

To take ownership of a Drive:

a)  Right-click the Drive that you want to take ownership of, and then click Properties.

b)  Click the Security tab, click Advanced, and then click the Owner tab.

c)  Click Edit. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

d) Click the name of the person you want to give ownership to.

e)  If you want that person to be the owner of files and subfolders in this folder, select the Replace owner on sub containers and objects check box.

f) Click OK.

Hope this information is helpful. Do let us know if you need any further assistance, we'll be glad to assist you.

Thanks for your reply. I tried your steps but I can't edit permissions in the security tab like in other files or dirs because I don't have permissions. I'm administrator. It only occurs in that drive after upgrade to Windows 10.
