Abit AX78 motherboard refuses to sleep (solved)

I am running Windows 10 on the Abit AX78 which is an older AM2 motherboard that has AMD 770 / SB600 chipset.

There are not really any (new) drivers for this chipset for Windows 10, I believe, but everything just works.

Except sleep mode.

The system goes to sleep just fine I believe. However upon returning I get no image on the screen.

It apparently does boot into Windows, and then reboots. Then it boots again into an error screen that says its collecting information, and then reboots again. Then finally it boots as normal, but of course this means without resuming from sleep.

There is only like one other thing that could be the culprit, and that could be the sound card. But I hardly doubt this is the case. Or maybe the graphics card, I don't know, it has newest drivers available.

Is there any way to verify what component is the problem?
