A program can't register to its site

Please, read to the end. On Windows 10, I Installed a program that tries to register over Internet but fails saying it can't connect to its site because I have an Internet problem. Naturaly, I have no problem with Internet. I tried with my firewall and my antivirus off without succes. I tried to install Windows 10 on another drive to check on a fresh install, same result. I tried to install Windows 10 on another computer (an old laptop); this time, the program register perfectly without any modif to anything. It's like Windows adds a security level because of the new hardware.

The program is "Easy CD-DA Extractor". It installs fine and works well for a month and has to be register after that. As I said, the same program register perfectly on a same windows but another machine.

Hi Jean,

I suggest trying to run the program in compatibility mode for an earlier Windows version.

To do this, right-click the program's executable or shortcut, select Properties, and go to the Compatibility tab. Then choose an earlier version of Windows (Windows 7 is a good starting point) and apply the changes. After that, restart the program and attempt the registration again.

I tried in various compatibility mode without succes. Your first response raise a flag in me. I now suspect that the program lie when it said that it can't connect to its site. I will try to investigate this suspicion.

Hi Jean,

Try to check whether the program is really trying to make an Internet connection when it registers. I suggest using Windows’ built‐in Resource Monitor to verify this.

Open Resource Monitor (you can type “resmon” in the Start menu), switch to the Network tab, and then run the registration process again to see if the program creates any outbound connection. If no traffic is observed from the program, it likely means the error message is a false flag coming from the program itself rather than a Windows security measure.

I checked with a sniffer and saw that the program effectively communicates with its site. I will compare the conversation of the fail attempt (desktop) and that of the succeed (laptop). After that, I will reopen the conversation with the program's support. Thanks for your help.
