24H2 update making every game unplayable

After installing Windows 11, version 24H2, you might encounter issues with the games listed below. These games might become unresponsive while starting, loading or during active gameplay. In some cases, users might receive a black screen. The affected games are:

​Assassin's Creed Valhalla
​Assassin's Creed Origins
​Assassin's Creed Odyssey
To safeguard your Windows update experience, we have applied a compatibility hold on devices with these games installed. These devices will not be offered to install Windows 11, version 24H2 via the Windows Update release channel. IT administrators using Windows Update for Business reports can check these issues using the following safeguard IDs: 54437462.

Resolved Titles:

Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora are no longer affected by this issue due to temporary hotfixes deployed by Ubisoft. While these fixes mitigate the crashes, players might still experience some performance issues. For more details, see the release notes for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – Title Update 1.2 and Star Wars Outlaws – Title Update 1.4.0. The safeguard hold (ID 54580160) that was previously in place for these two games has been lifted as of 12/05/2024. Note that, once these fixes are applied, it may take up to 48 hours for the Windows 11, version 24H2 update to be offered via Windows Update. Restarting your device might expedite the process.

Please see the Display driver troubleshooting below:


Option 1: Try Rolling back the Display driver.

Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
Navigate to Display devices and expand it. Right-click your Display adapter.

Choose Properties.

On the Driver tab, click the Rollback Driver button to go back to the previous version.



Option 2. Remove the Display drivers completely and Install the newest copy of the driver, available from the OEM or the GPU maker. The steps for it are here:

Eventually, after Windows restarts, check for Windows updates, or download the display driver from the computer manufacturer:

This doesn't fix anything to me, i play sons of the forest, PUBG, Zenless Zone Zero, GranBlue Fantasy Relink. I already did every thing you suggest but nothing happen, every game i play still force close it self

i play COD and Arma reforger, on arma reforger it gives me a stalled error code and call of duty it gives me a 100+ ping and an automatic 1 percent packet loss leading to an eventual timeout from game

MS can fk all the way off......

**** blue screens on 40% of builds and the other 60% have too many game issues.

This is by far the worst failure I've seen by MS.

Yup, I will be switching to Steam OS for PC as soon as Valve makes it available and the Nvidia drivers are worked out for it. I just have to roll back every time MS forces the 24H2 update on my machine as I did not wait too long to do it. MS has forever lost my support and $$$. This debacle to get this update that has recall to spy on you is past the point of no return.

Try this fix.

Only thing you can do is to switch Windows 10 or install windows before 24H2, and force stop all Windows updates.

Or switch to Linux.

No solution from Microsoft will fix your Gaming performance.

Actually reinstalling steam and the game worked. Worth trying.
