20H2 - no bluetooth?

When 20H2 was installed, my bluetooth disappeared. It shows up in devices,. I have uninstalled the drivers, and re-installed. Any help is appreciated.
Hello Franz_liszt,

I'm Jin, a fellow Windows 10 user and an independent advisor. I can see your device's Bluetooth has disappeared.

The most common and best way to resolve this is by visiting your device's manufacturer website and download the latest Bluetooth driver. Once downloaded, have it installed and check if it's going to work properly.

You can also start troubleshooting the Bluetooth via Device Manager.
1. Press Windows key + R, type devmgmt.msc then hit Enter.
2. Click on Bluetooth.
2. Right-click on the Bluetooth driver.
3. Select Update this driver.

If updating doesn't help, click on uninstall this driver instead. Then restart your device and go back to Device Manager. Right-click on Bluetooth then select scan for hardware changes. It should automatically detect the Bluetooth driver and reinstall it.

Here's also a link for possible troubleshooting steps that may help you with the Bluetooth issue:
https://support.microsoft.com/help/14169

Since the issue appeared after installing an 20H2, please consider rolling back the update:
1. In the search box on the taskbar, type control panel, and then choose it from the list of results
2. In the Control Panel search box, type recovery.
3. Select Recovery > Open System Restore.
4. In the Restore system files and setting box, select Next.

I hope this helps.

Microsoft has warned since June 2019 that Bluetooth devices may not work well after subsequent updates and may lose connection with the PC. This would not be a bug, but a feature. In one of the Windows 10 security patches there was a flaw called CVE-2019-2102, which is the "cause" of all this, but almost no one reads these bulletins that let me tell you, they arrive every week if they subscribe.

https://support.microsoft.com/es-sv/help/4507623/some-bluetooth-devices-may-fail-to-pair-or-connect-after-applying-june?fbclid=IwAR0uPUWZtkrlNHmNH4g3A3OR8aGKluD7j4VvlHHmNma2TMwlq0CAQrK9x4I

This flaw allowed that in low energy Bluetooth connections, keystrokes could be sent arbitrarily without any interaction with the user. In the cumulative updates of Windows 10 of June 11, 2019 and later this bug is corrected but in return Bluetooth devices considered insecure will not be able to connect to Windows 10.
The best solution Microsoft can give in this regard is for us to contact our Bluetooth device provider. And we must not be confused; I applaud Microsoft plugging holes, but we will have to pay a small price in the form of convenience along the way. This is a double-edged sword, since not updating can leave us vulnerable but doing so can make (in the worst case) not be able to use a Bluetooth device.
Safe alternative
In my particular case, I disabled the built-in Bluetooth adapter on my motherboard and bought a last generation Bluetooth dongle for $ 4, I know that many will be angry to pay money for something they already have and cannot use, but as I have always said, nothing is free in life and keep our insurance system safe that either ...

Thanks for the suggestion to try a dongle. After spending an entire day doing everything MS tech support and my Acer's tech support advised, including completely re-installing the OS, I plugged in a $10 dongle and voila, Bluetooth is back.

The core issue seemed to be that no BT drivers would work with Win 10 20H2 - not my manufacturer's, not Intel's, and not whatever Windows chose automatically.

The problem started without warning, but perhaps was triggered by an update installed 12/17/20. The symptom was no ability to turn on Bluetooth (toggle switch disappeared). Looking in Device Manager I could see that Windows would kill the driver "Bluetooth USB Module" (Code 43). Rolling it back to "Generic Bluetooth Module" got the same result.

The software that came with the dongle works fine.

So today I noticed my desktop could not connect to my Bluetooth audio devices working, they worked before Windows 20H2 build.

Both my audio Bluetooth 2ch sound bar and Bluetooth audio headphones are working they seem not to be able to pair and detect any of my devices, my Bluetooth card is also my Wi-Fi card in my gigabyte desktop. it seems that the drivers for the Bluetooth are broken if I knew that windows build Version 20H2 would break my Bluetooth I would not of upgraded to it right away, I may have to downgrade Windows 10 if its not fixed soon. it will not pair and sync with any of these Bluetooth devices, they were working before I upgraded the windows version to the current one. when I click add a device under sound option in show blutooth devices they don't detect now at all, I have both devices in sync mode the headphones time out and turn off without being detected under windows, and my Bluetooth soundbar just stays in Bluetooth mode, not detected at all.

if this was a windows 10 patch I need it undone, otherwise I either have to downgrade to Windows 10 Build 1809 or downgrade to either Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 on my desktop computer. I have an Geforce RTX 2060 card in my pc plus an GeForce GTX 1050 Ti both nvidia cards in my desktop, so I think I would not want to go back to windows 8.1 or windows 7 if I don't have to, But anyway I hope microsoft releases patches to fix windows 10 broke sound, now bluetooth I hope they don't break nvidia drivers in the next windows build, yes that me trying to be funny but really this is NOT FUNNY AT ALL, I did like using edge to view epub files in windows anyway which build 1809 had supported, also use kindle paperwhite to read ebooks, and of course my android tablet for them too. I also use Calibre in windows for ebooks.

the devices that still detect under my android tablet, read as H10 which is my Bluetooth headphones and NS-SB314 which is my sound bar, I have not tried the blutooth under my laptop I hope that Windows 20h2 didn't break its blutooth either, but since its different hardware than my gigabyte desktop which the built in Bluetooth seems to be broken motherboard is G1.Assassin 2 (rev. 1.0) Intel® X79 Chipset

https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/G1Assassin-2-rev-10/support#support-dl-driver
and it only has drivers that support up to windows 8.1 , this motherboard last worked right on build 1809 after that build both the blutooth now, as of 20h2 build and SoundBlaster card has no longer working

also this form page seems to be on the same topic maybe, the heading of the topic seems to be on the same problem for build 20H2 of windows 10. below is link

Windows 10 cant see any bluetooth devices - Microsoft Community
also this page on the same problem
Just updated to Win 10 20H2. now no Bluetooth - Microsoft Community

also that new xbox app, there is only a few games that even show up under it in windows 10 20H2, I don't have much use for it, since most of my games tomb raiders, assassins' creed games, and others xbox one and xbox one x games are disc based, yes a few of them are digital titles like life is strange but for whatever reason in my store on windows 10 there not on the xbox one, xbox one x, and pc access is like 0 of them, even the digital titles I seem to own are xbox console only games, which is fine for my xbox, but I can't play them on my pc with the gtx 2060 card, which seems better quality than the 3d card the xbox one x has, for example I own final fantasy xv royal edition disc with all the digital addons for the xbox only, can install it on my xbox console but can't use it with the windows edition or windows 10 pc options , even if the HUB on my Xbox Console still reads it as Final Fantasy XV Windows edition, and goes to the Windows edition under my Xbox One X still, don't no if that an bug that never has been fixed, which I like reported as a bug in 2018 I think, but again I don't no why the xbox version needs to link to the Windows edition when its not its the royal edition with all the addons including the Ardyn game addon, again which only shows that I own the Xbox One X console version, and not the windows edition version of the same game addon shows it as not owned since there seems to be two different Ardyn game under Microsoft windows 10 stores one showing as own on my xbox one x , and the other one listed as Ardyn Windows edition under windows 10, which is windows only version and not a shared game title between the Xbox one and pc windows 10 desktop. also all the backwards compatable games including all 3 fable titles are only accessable from disc under the xbox one x console but you can't play them on windows 10, since they don't show up as useable not cross compatible game titles I guess. its too bad that you can't play the xbox 360 games on the nvidia rtx 2060 hardware it would be neat if they say added ray trace effects to the games, and update them to work with directx 12, but thats not going to happen any time soon I think.
