2019-08 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1903 for x64-based Systems (KB4512508) -Error 0x80073701

Well here we go AGAIN! Another 'Patch Tuesday' and yet another update that refuses to install. Last month there was a Cumulative Update that would not install and now we have another one, 2019-08 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1903 for x64-based Systems (KB4512508) -Error 0x80073701, with the same error code. What on earth is going on at Microsoft? It's getting to the stage where I am seriously considering dumping my PC and getting a Mac! With the failed install of last month I tried everything possible to find a solution but all to no avail. Followed all the 'solutions' posted on the Community to the letter but none worked. Come on Microsoft...sort yourselves out as this is getting beyond a joke.

The error means what is shown at the bottom.  Hopefully, the DISM commands will find and correct your problem.

You haven't been uninstalling any default Win 10 apps, have you?

If you want me to check your Windows Update log, I can compare it to mine.  Or check it yourself and look for the error number.  If you want to create the log, open Power shell as admin and type the following command.  It will place the log on your desktop.

Get-WindowsUpdateLog

ERROR_SXS_ASSEMBLY_MISSING

14081 (0x3701)

The referenced assembly could not be found.

I'm afraid nothing works to resolve this problem. I went through all these solutions when the July Cumulative update failed to install, they didn't work then and I'm certain they won't work this time either. There also seems to be no way to 'hide' this latest update so that it won't be offered again. I have downloaded the Microsoft tool that is supposed to allow you to 'hide' an update but that won't 'hide' it at all.

I recommend you repair Windows completely before you should make a copy of your files.

You can also try the windows update minitool to block the update permanently:

Alps I recommend an in-place upgrade repair.
To repair Windows without losing any data then follow the instruction here:
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/16397-repai...
This will also upgrade you to the latest version of Windows - currently 1903.
In a nutshell you just insert the Windows 10 media (USB/DVD) & run setup from within Windows.

I've now managed to block the up[date by using the Microsoft 'hide' an update tool. Thank you for your suggestions as to possible work-arounds but they just don't work at all.
