1809 uninformed 'solutions', just stop!

PLEASE stop advising that a rollback to OS 1803 or a fresh install of the OS fixes problems caused by update 1809. They don't!!! And the issues caused are FAR more extensive than the 'few' admitted to by MS (why would they admit more?). I have two near inoperable laptops to prove that point!

Further, today's update KB446330 has NOTHING to do with repairing 1809, that is obvious in reading on it! Stop making uninformed guesses on the issue gentlemen!

It's a brand new install. There's nothing left. You're starting as fresh as possible. So make the most of it.

Answer
Hi WT. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

You care correct that the Update issued today only addresses a Group Policy settings in Enterprise versions. We are still waiting to hear from Microsoft on the rest of the issues including the disastrous file loss issue which may be why they are completely mum and not even helping or commenting in the triage threads per usual in these catastrophic issues.

Rollback worked for me but I had a very minor issue where I couldn't click through from Mail to Firefox nor repair either to do so, affecting my work flow. I do not recommend Roll Back if we can help sort out issues.

So please lay out your issues and I'll try to help you fix them as long as you are polite and cooperative. Upset is understandable at times like these but always works against achieving results.

One thing that has worked for several with nagging issues after rollback that defied normal repairs is to do a Repair Install by installing the Media Creation Tool from this link choosing Download Tool Now, install the tool, open it and choose Upgrade this PC Now. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m.... This offers a better reinstall of Windows than the rollback while saving your files and apps in place; takes about an hour, resolves most problems.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
