Hi ARSENALTASTIC, Windows and indeed Windows Explorer is useless when it comes to working out where your hard drive space is being used . . .

Click the link below to download a small free utility called Treesize. Using that tool, you will instantly see where this space is being used

https://www.jam-software.com/treesize_free/

Once you have worked out where this space is being used, please let us know so we can advise on what is safe to remove . . .

Hi ARSENALTASTIC,

There would be no point in backing up the previous Windows Installations, they cannot be used again

Windows Defender, that is negligible space

Windows Update log file again serve not purpose for the future

Device Driver Packages, certainly they would be worth backing up if you can find their location on your hard drive

Though you can backup your current full driver set manually as follows:

Create a new folder on your C Drive called DriverBackup

Click your Start Button, type cmd, then right click Command Prompt. and choose 'Run as Administrator'

Run the following command and press Enter:

DISM /online /export-driver /destination:C:\DriverBackup

When that command completes, close Command Prompt and copy that new folder to an external drive for future use
