0x81000101 Shadow copy timeout error

I'm running W7 home premium with Rollback Rx installed as a restore utility. Windows restore is turned off. I still like to use the W7 backup utility to save a backup and a system image to an external drive. I have done this several times successfully. Now I get 0x81000101 shadow copy timeout errors. I used Rollback to restore the drive to the point immediately preceding the last successful W7 backup and I still get the error. I can't understand how that could be since Rollback supposedly restores the drive bit for bit.
Hi MTBeers,

Verify if these two services are running:

  a)    Volume Shadow Copy service
  b)    Windows backup

Also ensure that their dependency services are running.
Verify if their dependency services are running.
You can check this information from services.msc

1)    Go to start and type services.msc in the search field.
2)    Locate the two services.
3)    Right-Click on the service one at a time.
4)    Select properties.
5)    Go to Dependencies Tab.
6)    Note the dependency services.
7)    Make sure they’re also running.
8)    To start a service, right click on it and select start.

From many users facing the same issue, turning off system restore for the hard disk on which Windows is installed and turning it back on seems to have solved the issue.
You may try the same.

Turn System Restore on or off

See if this helps.

Try running the Windows backup utility.

Please turn off your Rollback Rx while performing the steps.
