Dear Windows Community,

I had a hard time with this issue as I still use the older iPhone plug in headphones.

Because I was plugging in my iPhone headphones into the top of my computer, the Windows 10 software wasn't allowing me to choose the iPhone mic instead of the AverMedia webcam mic.

The computer was playing both, so I could hear myself delayed in the earphones. After a few minutes the computer just chose to have no mic.

I have since got an extension cord and was able to plug in my iPhone headphones into the back of the computer into the "Line In" port.

Now, instead of the Webcam mic as the only default, the Windows software recognizes the iPhone as a separate mic option that I can choose in the Sound settings.

Problem solved. I use the webcam for visual and choose the iPhone mic and headphones as audio.

I found this solution no where on the internet, had to figure it out myself after trying all the above Windows Sound Setting options.

I hope this solution may help other users in the future.

Any USB audio device breaks often. It's something Microsoft has not been able to get right since they hit the market. Especially after sleep mode. Your best bet is buy a motherboard with built in audio or PCI. They will never get this right probably in our lifetime.

Hi

I am a computer Tech, 3.5mm jack issues since the last few updates of windows 10. I have had to return a $5000.00 alienware system back to Dell due to the sound coming from the 3.5mm Jack was not working correctly. Dell technician came out and replaced all the parts, They updated windows, reversed windows, removed drivers, reinstalled drivers, changed settings in windows and realtech, they did everything you mentioned above and beyond. After 5 months the sound still did not work correctly. When playing music the music itself plays normal, but the voice/singing to music is faded in the background.

I also have a Acer Nitro computer which is also experiencing the same issue. however this is outside of the warrenty and return period. Cant listen to music through it, cant play and games through it. The Dell team and the technicians that came out has simply said Windows/microsoft has screwed it up again. Seems to be effecting computers that are not your every day type harvey norman purchased computers.

It has come to my attention that you windows have broke your own product.

Can you please bring out a update to fix this world wide issue......

Yes I have a similar problem with my USB webcam.  Used to work OK.  Camera is OK but microphone very soft, hardly any sound.  This is the same for Zoom and Skype.  It would appear that Microsoft/Windows are to blame!!!!!
