Dear DoulosMan,
Thank you for your reply. It's okay, my friend. Thank you for your response. I now understand the issue.
Firstly, regarding your desktop icons disappearing, this is indeed caused by uninstalling OneDrive. Since OneDrive was syncing your desktop files (including icons), it saved these files in the "Desktop" folder within OneDrive. When you uninstalled OneDrive, it stopped syncing with your desktop folder, causing these files (icons) to disappear from the "Desktop" folder on your Windows. Hence, you saw all the files (icons) disappearing from your desktop.
To solve this problem, you can simply visit the OneDrive website and log in with the Microsoft account you used before uninstalling OneDrive. Find the "Desktop" folder in OneDrive. Your lost files should be there.
Hover over these files with your mouse, select the circular checkbox in front of each file, and click "Download" at the top. These files will be downloaded as a compressed folder in your browser. After the download is complete, open the file and extract all the files or drag them directly to your desktop.
You can also re-download OneDrive and sync your desktop files. They should automatically restore. Then, you need to go to the "Desktop" folder within your OneDrive folder. Select all these files, right-click, and choose "Always keep on this device". After that, you can freely uninstall OneDrive.
Regarding your computer experiencing a blue screen issue. Based on the error you saw, it could be a problem with the system files. Please check if this blue screen issue occurs a second time. If it does not, you can continue to use your computer as normal.
If the blue screen appears a second time, you can follow these steps:
Search for "cmd", find "Command Prompt", and select "Run as administrator". Then, type or copy the following commands, one line at a time, and press enter after each one.
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
sfc /scannow
bootrec /repairbcd
bootrec /osscan
bootrec /repairmbr
In addition, check the path "C:\Windows\Minidump\", if you see any ".dmp" file, please upload it to the cloud and share it here.
If you have any news, feel free to let me know. Incidentally, you can also check your desktop files by accessing the OneDrive website from any other device.
Looking forward to your good news.
Best wishes
