Have updates broken my Surface?

I performed the updates on 14 Nov (inc Firmware), now:

  • Surface is slow,
  • Explorer continually resets,
  • Attempting to get into Settings or any right-click menu from the Desktop causes Explorer to restart,
  • Keyboard doesn't (hardly) work, and
  • Hardware start button (the touch one on the screen bezel) doesn't respond.

I did a hardware refresh with no change.  Should I do a reset?  Will that make any difference?

Yesterday this device was the best thing since sliced bread - today I want my money back.

PS - no Microsoft shops in Western Australia, so please don't offer that as an answer.  I can't travel to the nearest MS shop (~3500 Km's) to get their advice.

Answer
You can try a reset,it will take your device to the default one.

All of your personal files will be deleted and your settings will be reset. Any apps that came with your Surface will be reinstalled, but all other apps will be removed.

However, your apps can be easily resintalled from the Start screen, tap or click Store, follow on screen instructions.
