Surface Pro 3 LGC Battery Degradation

Split from this thread.

It was suggested that I open a new thread for this issue that I am having.

Since the Win 10 Anniversary update, I was not able to turn on my Surface Pro 3 i7 512GB with LGC LGC Battery without having it plugged in with the power supply or docking (I own a total of Three Surface Pro 3 Docks at home and 2 offices). It always said "82%, Plugged in, Not Charging", and would always instantly turn off once I pulled off the power supply tab.

I had spoke with a Technical Agent online, had my Pro 3 remote accessed, did all the proposed solutions, and even had a call from Bellevue, WA (I live in Hong Kong) before I found out that it was a software issue as stated by Microsoft.

With Auto Update turned on, I was notified that I should restart my Pro 3 this morning while I was on the docking station. I was happy that this issue was going to be resolved, but now I am disappointed that this firmware update did nothing for my Pro 3.

I'm hoping that someone out there has some suggestions.

Thank You.

Got a reply from MS:

That’s definitely a different problem from what we saw with the Simplo batteries.  I’ll send it back up to the engineering team.

I also have the issue with LGC battery.

Before 8/29 update, my SP3 has battery issue, once unplugged SP3 will shutdown within 20 seconds because of battery. After 8/29 firmware update, the problem is still there. Here is the battery report, only 144mWh.

Your issue does look like the SIMPLO one to me. I've alerted an internal contact. Can you post the rest of the battery report showing the history please?

Thank You, I hope that this can eventually be solved because all the methods we tried had no effect. The only suggestion that I didn't try was Resetting my surface, but I doubt that it would change anything, other than that I would lose all my data.

for you folks with the 82%/97% plugged in, not charging. Microsoft is working on specific steps to try (involving removing the battery driver - not deleting it - and restarting to let it reinstall) to resolve this.

Should be a few hours and I'll post these as soon as I get them. It's 7am in Redmond so they are just waking up there.

Are you docked or undocked? If you unplug, does it shut down?
