Why am I only getting 46Mbps download speed on my Surface Pro 2?

I have a cable internet connection rated at 100Mbps.  On my desktop wired connection, speed tests generally give me rated speed of 113 Mbps. Running those same speed tests on my surface pro 2 max out at around 46 Mbps over WiFi.

My router (**** TG852 Internet / telephony Modem) is set for 802.11n, WEP2/AES.  Why aren't I getting better speed test results?  Should network type be set to something different?  The modem help pages state that it should be set for WEP2 / AES for 802.11n to get n speeds.

Hi Anthony.

The desktop uses a wired connection and is in general a more stabile link than WiFi.
Have you tried the Surface Ethernet USB adapter?

Over WiFi, I'm never getting the speeds that the router / WiFi vendors promise, but some are better than others.

Also, try disabeling the securety features on Your routers for a test, and, make sure that there is no other routers nearby using the same WiFi Channel as you are (the Tools I love to use is the InSSIDer)
