Wacom pen on Surface Pro 2

Hey,

My coworker is returning his Samsung tablet because he doesn't' like how it works with the Wacom pen (which he loves) and Adobe Photoshop.

I have an SP2.

Before I demonstrate a failure, will his Wacom pen work with it, and has anyone used it with Photoshop to demonstrate their vaunted sensitivity?

Thanks.

FOLLOW UP:

I borrowed his pen and installed the latest PS using the 30 day trial.  The pen was seen immediately by the SP2, but the pressure sensitivity did not work with Photoshop.  It did work with the Fresh Paint App and OneNote.  But that is with whatever default driver Win8.1 has for it.

So I read online and a MSFT answer page said to install the easyfeel drivers.  I did that and rebooted.  The pen no longer reads at all.  I checked Device Manager and it said 'could not initialize error 10' under the HID listing for the pen.  The Wacom control panel fails to run and complains about the tablet not being supported.

I just finished a RESTORE to undo all that.  Now the pen works again, but no sensitivity for Photoshop. Just On/Off...

Greetings SolderFace,

Sorry to hear about your experience. Just to confirm, you've installed the Wacom Driver from here and the pen is no longer working?

Try and uninstall the Wacom driver, shut down your Surface Pro 2, then power on and install the driver that I listed above and see if the same issue occurs.

I just followed your link to the Wacom driver.  Installed it and the pen works great (seems a lot more responsive), however now my Microsoft Arc Mouse (not the Bluetooth model) has stopped working.

Uninstalled Wacom driver and now the mouse is working again.

Any ideas?

I've attached a screenshot of the Human Interface Drivers in Device Manager.  Is this normal?  Can't remember how many devices showed before.

Yes, that's the link alright.

Their utility reported that the SP2 was a compatible machine.

It looks like a Photoshop problem to me in that they ignore the Msft pen driver sensitivity by default, and the alternate 'improved' driver from Wacom has native compatibility issues with the OS.

All I can say is the artist people here are cheesed off about all that.

Greetings,

Please try the following:

Power off the Surface Pro 2
Hold Volume Up and the Power button for 10 seconds
Release buttons
Wait 5-10 seconds
Power on the Surface
