Surface Book 1 Battery 2 Not Charging

Was just looking to pre-order the Surface Book 2 then had a battery issue on my Surface Book 1...

Battery 2 (base battery): showing 0% and not charging when plugged in and not.  Battery 1 (in the screen portion) operating as normal - charging through the base fine.  Result is total battery % never shows above 50% with Battery 2 presumably being offline.  No drops, water or other abuse.

Ran the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit and it didn't report any issues with charging or otherwise.  Did the hard power reset a few times to no effect.  

Ran a Battery Diagnostic with the below results. 

Does anyone have any thoughts on what the issue is?

way too small to read with my ancient eyes, but Batt 2 shows a huge difference
between design capacity and full charge capacity. I'd be worried about that. If
you are in the US, suggest you go to the closest physical retail Microsoft
Store, otherwise, contact support
