Surface book screen is gapping at top

as if the adhesive is giving way. This is the second Surface Book I have had with this problem. System still works and screen is not broken. But, this cannot be good.

is the battery swelling and causing this? do you have a picture of this (you

the gap is symmetrical - widest at center top  1/4" maybe -- narrows down to left/right top.

Do not think so, but I am not sure where to 'see' the battery. the gap is 1/16" - 1//8" along the top only.

You need to visit a Microsoft Store if in the US or phone support on this.

Hello, my friends surface book exploded recently on a flight to Dubai, it caught fire in the cabin! The screen started pealing because the battery was 'defective' and slowly started expanded behind the screen. He paid almost $3000 when he bought it. Microsoft tried to charge him for a replacement which he couldn't afford and he had to continue using it for work. I have the same problem with my Surface Book and now I am really worried, and I feel cheated for paying so much for a defective design. I'm an architect and travel a lot with my laptop, I also just find it embarrassing when I meet clients and consultants having to explain the issue when they see my laptop.

They are replacing free of charge if you are within 3 years of original purchase (I think it should be longer). But please, it is NOT SAFE to use these devices once they are in this condition where the battery has bulged and the screen has separated. 

If you are in the US you should go to the closest physical retail Microsoft Store (there are also 5 stores in Canada and 1 each in London, UK and Sydney, AU)

I tried this in the US at Orlando, FL Mall at Millenia - they said only 2 years, mine was 2 years and a month. So, no choice, I ordered a refurbished on Amazon.

Microsoft should acknowledge this problem and replace ALL such occurrences.
