Surfacebook gen 1., gen 2. Keyboard compatibility

Hello there, 

my surfacebook gen. 1 keyboard was stolen on my last holiday. As I have found out, there is no way to purchase a new original keyboard unit. 

My friend had the same situation happening, just that his tablet unit was snatched right from his hands in Bolivia. 

He offered to sell me his keyboard unit but my issue is that his surfacebook was the 2nd generation. 

My question:

Will the 2nd generation keyboard unit work with the 1st generation tablet unit?

Thanks for reaching Microsoft Community. We are sorry to learn that your keyboard and friend's clipboard were stolen. As for your inquiry whether your Surface Book 1 clipboard is compatible with the Surface Book 2's keyboard; they will work together but it is not recommended for warranty purposes as the device entitlement is treated as one.
