Surface Pro X USB to RS232 Installation Problem

Hi All,

I am currently using a Microsoft Surface Pro X on Windows 10. I am struggling to a USB to Serial RS232 to install properly on the computer.

I have tried StarTech ICUSB2321F and StarTech ICUSB232C, Moxa Uport 1110 and a FTDIChip US232R-100. None of them seem to work, all the devices have issues with being installed properly.

I spoke with Technical Support at StarTech and they have told me that their USB to RS232 products don't support the ARM processor.

I am curious if anyone has had any success with installing a USB to RS232 on the Surface Pro X on Windows 10.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is likely because there is no driver for this device. Star Tech would need
to supply a driver and it seems as though they are not interested in doing this.

I've only been able to try one so far and I can't remember the brand and model anymore. But it didn't work either. I was actually kind of surprised; I expected that there might be a class driver for USB to Serial adapters by now, but apparently not. I never had any luck with these on my old Surface RT either, though in that case I wasn't all that surprised. I am hoping to find one that'll work with my Pro X at some point myself. I don't need it very often, but once in awhile something comes up where I need one...
